Mental Health problems are common within the workplace and it is the leading cause of sickness absence. It is estimated that c70 million working days each year are lost within the UK through mental health problems, costing employers in the region of £2.4bn per year. By increasing awareness and learning mental health first aid skills, we can support colleagues within the workplace in a more effective manner, as well as supporting friends and family. We could even save a life.
To combine both theoretical elements and practical application towards raising awareness of mental health, the signs and signals and the triggers. It will equip participants with the skills and knowledge they need to respond appropriately when others are experiencing a mental health issue /crisis and leads to a qualification.

By the end of the course, delegates will:
Have an increased awareness and understanding of mental health within and outside the workplace.
Be aware of myths and facts surrounding mental health and how to reduce stigma and discrimination.
Understand the signs, symptoms, risk factors and treatments of the most common mental health problems and the importance of early intervention.
Be able to recognise and respond appropriately to mental health problems in themselves and others; including what to do during a mental health crisis and who within the workplace to refer to.
Be able to promote ways of improving mental health both within and outside of the organisation.
Have the knowledge and understanding to be able to carry out mental health first aid; understand its limits & how it fits within wider organisation procedures
Be aware of the support and advice available for mental ill health and the key sources of information and support within and outside the organisation.
