Overview and who should attend

A programme delivered over 7 months with seven interactive face to face sessions at our training centre spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart, and 2 x remote “live” tutor sessions.

This is a prestigious qualification aimed at those who wish to gain an internally recognised qualification on the National Qualification Framework at Level 7 (assessed as similar to Masters Level) and who wish to validate and enhance their skills when coaching and mentoring at a senior level, and boost their credibility.

Attendees will typically have significant responsibility for coaching and mentoring as part of their day-to-day role or aspire to establish and develop an existing career as a coach or mentor to those working at a strategic level, where strategy, critical thinking and organisational development are integral to their roles. The learning will be underpinned by practical and applied research at the leading edge of Coaching & Mentoring practice including the latest leadership thinking and models, neuroscience and systematic thinking linked to the strategic environment. 

Participants on the programme, and those who attain the qualification will be entitled to a 25% off membership of the EMCC “European Coaching and Mentoring Council” Membership, the leading association in the field of Coaching and Mentoring.  More information can be found here

Aims

  • To develop a critical understanding of the roles and responsibilities of an effective coach and mentor at an executive/senior level, and understand the contribution which leadership mentoring and executive coaching plays in development strategic leadership potential in others.
  • To develop an enhanced understanding of neuroscience and research in to the laest leadership thinking at a strategic level including how strategic purpose and critical thinking around values, ethics and behaviours contributes towards a coaching and learning culture in organisations.
  • To provide the underpinning knowledge and practical tools to enable participants to unlock potential in senior leaders by applying best practice in coaching and mentoring.
  • To recognise the impact of the system and culture in which the coaching or mentoring is taking place and to enable participants to build trusted relationships to enable the use of both challenge and support for clients to make progress, including assessing wider system issues and strategic choices where these are required.

This is a 7 day course spread over approximately 7 months.

Day 1 – ILM Induction & the Organisational Context

Day 2 – The Effective Coach-Mentor

Day 3 – Preparing to Coach or Mentor Individuals

Day 4 – Practical Workshops (1) Managing Relationships

Day 5 – Practical Workshops (2) Managing Relationships

(One to one Executive Coaching Session + Tutorial (on-line)

Day 6 – Becoming a Transformational Coach/Mentor

(One to one Executive Coaching Session + Tutorial (on-line)

Day 7 – CPD and Developing your Coach/Mentor Bio

Assessment

  • 1 x written assignment;
  • 1 x coaching diary*;
  • 1 x reflective review on ability to coach and CPD. *20 hours coaching minimum required (six will be available to claim during the course days).

Programme delivery

Challenge Consulting have an ethos of tailoring delivery to participants in order that they can directly apply what they have learned within their work. Group sizes are kept to a maximum of 12, with usual group size being between 6 and 10 to allow participants opportunities to discuss topical issues and to create action plans and explore techniques and strategies within the sessions.
