Overview and who should attend

A 3 day Top-up programme delivered in 3 x 1 day sessions spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart. Designed for whose who have already started their leadership development through achieving an ILM Level 5 Award qualification.  The course will extend the knowledge and skills gained on the Award programme and provide extra credits to enable achievement of the ILM Level 5 Certificate in Leadership & Management.    Participants joining the programme will be required to demonstrate that they have achieved a relevant Award programme within the last 3 years, and have covered off Leadership Development leading to achievement of at least 6 credits within the ILM Level 5 framework.    The level 5 top up will focus on applying leadership skills within the context of innovation & change and participants will be required to identify and research an area for improvement within their workplace and suggest ways to enhance current effectiveness

  • To equip participants with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills to become more effective in their current role.
  • To provide confidence and competence to progress within a leadership role.


This is a 3 session course spread over approximately 3 months. This will consist of traditional face to face training at our purpose built Conference centre just on the outskirts of Nottingham City Centre.

  • Day 1 – Supporting individual development & managing performance
  • Day 2 – Influencing skills and making a case through professional presentations and briefings
  • Day 3 – Tutorial + Assessed Presentations on Leadership Effectiveness


Top up Route (those who have previously attained an Award Qualification, and wish to top up to a Certificate :  

  • 1 x work-based Innovation/Improvement report demonstrating data analysis.

Programme delivery

Challenge Consulting have an ethos of tailoring delivery to participants in order that they can directly apply what they have learned within their work. Group sizes are kept to a maximum of 12, with usual group size being between 6 and 10 to allow participants opportunities to discuss topical issues and to create action plans and explore techniques and strategies within the sessions.
